*I am 23 years old, and am preparing to start a Masters in History at Northern Arizona University. My proposal for an MA project deals with the faceoff between LGBT movements and Indian nationalist/anti-colonial movements. In my project, I also try to position the figure of the Indian Lesbian and argue that because Indian nationalist movements relied so heavily on the idea of "woman as symbol", there was no place for the Indian lesbian in Indian Nationalist discourse.
